If you’re lacking the core strength to do a pushup - no problemo! There are so many other ways to build up that upper body/core to help you eventually get to your goal - and be able to do push-ups.
- Firstly, try doing knee push ups, where you’re body is still in line with your torso, but your knees are on the ground. This reduces the lifting load by about 50% and makes push ups MUCH easier.
- Sit ups are much easier than push ups but still engage your core muscles. You’ll need to do quite a few of them to feel the burn though - try aiming for 100.
- Planks/Bridges work wonders! start off lying on the ground on your stomach, hold your hands together and hold yourself up on your forearms for as long as you can (try a minute). Make sure to keep your butt up - if your body sits too close to the ground or too high up, the exercise it pointless!
There are heaps of other core exercises, if none of these help try google “core exercises”, there is a ton of info on the internet!
